Scaredy Squirrel thinks about all the things that could happen to him if he left the safety of his home, but he has no choice when he accidently drops his emergency kit.

Led by Duncan "Gluestick" Dewey, the NERDS team uses brain power and courage rather than gadgets when they face off against supervillian Simon, his band of savage squirrels, and Albert, a middle-aged computer genius who lives with his mother.

Scaredy Squirrel is reluctant to make a friend because he's afraid he might be bitten, so he uses his best defense techniques when a dog approaches him, with unexpected results.

Uncomfortable with the idea of camping outdoors, Scaredy Squirrel engages in a camping venture on his couch away from mosquitoes, skunks and zippers and hopes to watch a camping show on his new television, which requires him to hunt for an electrical outlet in the woods.

The Cat and the Squirrel come to blows with the Duck in arguing about who will perform what duty in preparing their pumpkin soup, and they almost lose the Duck's friendship when he decides to leave them.

Squirrel is too busy getting ready for winter to nibble a pumpkin with Mouse, run in the field with Dog, or otherwise play with any of the other animals.

As summertime approaches, Scaredy Squirrel, who only feels safe when he is at home in his nut tree, decides to build his own beach getaway complete with a germ-free inflatable pool and a plastic flamingo until the lure of the real beach gets too strong.
