The story of Lily, a newly divorced, mentally unstable woman who loses custody of her child and, unable to bear this loss, abducts her daughter; interspersed with theological and philosophical digressions and meditations from the author on his creative process, on the culture of Utah, the Mormon patriarchy, and the nature of reality and perception.
