Description
Silent comedy films produced by Mack Sennett at Keystone. Mack Sennett was an innovator of slapstick comedy in film. During his lifetime, he was known as 'the King of Comedy.' Born Michael Sinnott in Richmond, Quebec, Canada, Sennett was a son of Irish immigrants. His father was a blacksmith in the small Eastern Townships village. Sennett became a singer, dancer, clown, actor, set designer and director for Biograph, and founded Keystone Studios in 1912 together with Adam Kessel. Many important actors were discovered by him and started their career at Keystone. Those include Charlie Chaplin, Raymond Griffith, Gloria Swanson, Ford Sterling, the Keystone Cops and many more. This DVD features over three hours of the best of Mack Sennett's Keystone comedies starring such comic luminaries as Mabel Normand, Fatty Arbuckle, and Mack Swain.
