Description
Cadfael is called upon to bury 94 rebel soldiers executed on King Stephen's orders. But the sanctity of the religious ceremony is disrupted when Cadfael counts the deceased and finds one corpse too many. With the city engulfed by war, no one is above suspicion as Cadfael hunts for the murderer.
