Description
Tom Bodett hosts this series on the trails that extended America's frontiers. Follow in the footsteps and wagon ruts of rugged pioneers, dauntless homesteaders, reclusive mountain men and stop-at-nothing gold hunters as they explore, settle, and work the new land.
Description
The Mormon Trail: in 1847, Brigham Young and thousands of Mormon followers crossed the Missouri River at Council Bluffs, Nebraska and set off on their great exodus across the Great Plains in search of their new Zion.
Description
California's Mission Trail: in the early 1800s, Father Junipero Serra and a dedicated group of Franciscan monks established a chain of 21 missions along California's coast. Their intentions was to create a network of religious communities no more than a day's ride from one another. With time, the missions covered a 600 mile stretch of California's coast, reaching from San Diego to Sonoma.
